Will Leitch newsletter on headlines
Will Leitch's newsletter is always a recommended read, but this one in particular resonated with me. On headlines and how it's wild when people get mad about something they haven't even bothered to read.
"Now, I have been in these sort of online kerfuffles beforeāmany, many times. It has happened often enough that I donāt really sweat them anymore: My job is to write my piece, move on, write another one, and move on again. These things pass, every time; no one remembers, they just migrate over to the new thing to be mad about, and then the next. I am not writing for engagement, or clout, or social media prowess. I am fortunate enough to be paid for my writing, and I thus consider that my sole responsibility: Make good stuff, then go make more. If my editors are happyāand they have beenāthen I am happy."
